During the pandemic, the LDH (Louisiana Department of Health) reports that there was a 115% increase in opioid-related deaths, bringing Louisiana’s total count to 678. The pandemic itself cut off normal social relationships and ways of coping with the daily stresses of life; with the holiday season coming up, there will be even more triggers for shame, guilt, and overall vulnerability. That’s why for the month of November, we have chosen to focus on one word: Resilience. Building resilience means building a fort of protection from triggers and bad patterns that can lead us back to the cycle of poor decision-making.
